Construction Beginning On New Hanford High Outdoor Athletic Facilities

Kennewick-based Chervenell Construction will build new outdoor athletic facilities at Hanford High School, including installation of an artificial turf football field, construction of a 2,000-seat grandstand with press box and new restrooms and concession facilities.

The Richland School Board awarded the bid for the project to Chervenell during its meeting on Feb. 9. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately and will cost about $5.5 million, which is below initial budget estimates.

The new athletic facilities is one of the projects paid for by the bond approved by voters in February 2017. It was designed by Design West Architects of Kennewick and DA Hogan, a Seattle-based firm specializing in athletics facilities.

Along with the football field and concessions and restrooms building, the project also includes a resurfacing of the existing track, a new venue entrance with improved accessibility, parking expansion, and installation of a new scoreboard and stadium lighting.

The project is scheduled to be completed by October 2021.
