AVID

The AVID student is full of potential and on the road to success. They may fall into the academic middle – B, C, and even D students – who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard. They can be students who are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but are falling short of their potential. AVID students may be the first of the family to graduate high school or the first to go to college. They may be from low-income families or have underrepresented backgrounds.

AVID pulls these students out of their unchallenging courses and puts them on a post-secondary track.

AVID helps with...

• School now: get support with time management, organization, managing test anxiety, public speaking, study habits
• The future: get help with financial aid, scholarship applications, college options and choices, explore career opportunities 
• Connections: build strong relationships with your peers and teachers that will last a lifetime

While every week will vary, here is what a week in AVID class could look like:

AVID is a class you can take all four years of high school that helps prepare you for your future goals in college and career. You stay with the same class all four years, which allows you to create a class community to lean on throughout high school.
